2011-11-09 - Our annual Christmas Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel. We host this annual event to assist those whom we have served, as well as those whom we have not served, during this very emotional time of year. All are welcome to attend. This is NOT another funeral, but rather a short, uplifting service of remembrance, strength and sharing. At the conclusion of the service, refreshments are served in the church hall, and we prepare a Christmas tree ornament in memory of those we have served over the past year.
2011-07-27 - Please be aware that Purple Shield has recently done a mail out in the area, suggesting that they can help you plan for your final needs and help cover any costs not already covered by the Canada Pension Plan. Although we would not suggest that people not use them, they should be aware that they are NOT making funeral prearrangements. In the past, people have purchased a plan through Purple Shield with the understanding that they have prepaid their funeral, but this is NOT the case. They have only purchased an insurance policy, similar to one that can be purchased from any of the reputable insurance agents right here in our community. Purple Shield salesmen do not prearrange funerals, nor are they licenced to do so. However, the presentation to the purchaser often makes them think that they have prearranged their own funerals, and prepaid them. These are commissioned salesmen, NOT funeral directors, and they do not work for the funeral home. Please make sure you know the facts before signing anything, and if you have any questions, feel free to give us a call.
